PRODUCT SYSTEM SEEKING THE ULTIMATE IN PRODUCTIVITY
The K.P.S. or Kawasaki Production System has its own special concept. This concept embodies the approach that “the product needed, when needed and only in the quantity needed” is essential for a highly efficient production system. This is based on the cell system where one operator totally manages a product from start to finish, no surplus stock is manufactured, in a system that always functions at its best.
Here at our company where the basic principle is small quantity production of many product types, we have the flexibility to change combinations of product assembly lines some 14 to 15 times a day. This kind of high production system is so innovative you could call it a pioneer in the motorcycle industry.
VIRTUALLY 100% OF ALL EQUIPMENT OTHER THAN MACHINE TOOLS IS MADE IN-HOUSE!
Other than machine tools such as machining centers and NC lathes, virtually all of our equipment was developed and built in-house. Our equipment is constantly being improved and upgraded for functions such as allowing one operator to work two cells at the same time. To achieve even higher productivity, we analyze data showing the number of daily machine changeovers (setups) and time required, and use this to improve our machine layout every year.
Here at our company, we believe that the production system is still the key to competitive strength. To remain a winner in the global marketplace, we will seek even further progress in its production system and advance to further challenges.
